Zadar / The verdict
Is a Kornati Islands day trip worth it?
Yes if you want a full day on the water: the excursions pair the bare Kornati islands with the Telašćica cliffs and Lake Mir. It is a long boat day, so skip it if you get seasick or would rather explore on foot.

The Zadar story
Zadar is the most underrated city on the Dalmatian coast: a Roman-and-Venetian old town on a small peninsula, a seafront where the Sea Organ plays music off the waves and the Greeting to the Sun lights the dusk, and five national parks within day-trip reach. It is Split's smaller, calmer rival.
The verdict in 30 seconds
It depends
Yes if you want a full day on the water: the excursions pair the bare Kornati islands with the Telašćica cliffs and Lake Mir. It is a long boat day, so skip it if you get seasick or would rather explore on foot.
Go if
- You want the seascape itself: a day of cruising through the Kornati with a stop at the Telašćica cliffs and Lake Mir.
- You want swim stops: excursions anchor at beaches such as Lojena on Levrnaka.
- You are happy with an all-day group excursion where food is served aboard.
- You are fit enough for a short hike, such as the cliff viewpoint at Telašćica or a peak on Kornat.
Skip if
- You get seasick: most of the day is spent on the boat.
- You want a short outing: one traveler's trip ran from 9:00 to 17:30.
- You want to explore islands on foot: landings are limited to the stops the boat makes.
What it costs
- Kornati National Park group ticket, per passenger on a contracted excursion boat, June to September: €8 (2026 park price list; 6 EUR per passenger January to May and October to December; normally built into the excursion fare). Official source, checked Oct 2026.
- Telašćica Nature Park ticket, per person arriving on an excursion boat, June to September: €8 (official park price list; 6 EUR outside the season; the boat operator must make sure each passenger has a ticket). Official source, checked Oct 2026.

What travelers report
Based on 3 traveler reports (Jul 2025 to Oct 2025) and the official sources linked on this page. 0 were negative.
What people like

- A beach stop such as Lojena on Levrnaka adds turquoise water and snorkeling (1 of 3 reports).
- Food comes through the day, with a barbecue lunch on an island stop (1 of 3 reports).
- Travelers come back calling it an amazing day at sea or the best day trip in Croatia (3 of 3 reports).
What people complain about
- It is a long day, about 9:00 to 17:30 in one report (1 of 3 reports).
- Lake Mir can be too cold to swim early in the season (1 of 3 reports).
- The path from the Telašćica viewpoint to Lake Mir is easy to lose (1 of 3 reports).
How to do it right
- Compare the boats leaving Zadar's waterfront and check what the fare covers: park tickets, meals and drinks.
- Check that both park tickets are included; the official prices are 8 EUR per passenger for each park in June to September.
- At Telašćica, ask the crew for the easiest path from the cliff viewpoint to Lake Mir.
- Bring a swimsuit, towel and sunscreen, and walking shoes for the viewpoint path.
- Take seasickness precautions if you are prone, since the day is mostly on the water.
The trap to avoid
Expecting island-hopping. The day is mostly time on deck, with the Telašćica stop and a lunch stop as the main landings, so plan for a long boat day rather than a walking day.
What to do instead
Why this verdict
Depends, because this is a boat day rather than a sight. The Kornati excursions spend most of their hours on the water, cruising through the bare islands of the national park, with Telašćica Nature Park on Dugi Otok as the main landing: a cliff viewpoint, a walk to the salt Lake Mir and a swim. Whether that is a highlight or a slog comes down to how you feel about a full day on deck.
Only three recent traveler reports turned up, and all three are positive. A Polish family’s cruise from Zadar stopped at Lojena beach on Levrnaka and then the Telašćica cliffs, and they wrote that the day beat their expectations. A travel writer on an early-season trip from Biograd describes a 9:00 to 17:30 day with about two hours at Telašćica, a barbecue lunch on the island of Katina and food served from morning to the return leg, and called it an amazing day at sea. A traveler video adds a hike up a peak on Kornat for the view over the archipelago and calls it the best day trip in Croatia. The cautions come from the same writer: the lake was too cold to swim in early in the season, and the path from the viewpoint to the lake was easy to lose. Three reports cannot settle crowding, food quality or seasickness either way, so the verdict rests on the shape of the day: long, scenic and mostly afloat.
Timing and tickets
The parks set official fees that excursion fares normally include. For 2026, Kornati National Park charges contracted excursion boats 8 EUR per declared passenger in June to September and 6 EUR in the other months, and Telašćica Nature Park charges 8 EUR per person arriving on an excursion boat in season and 6 EUR outside it. Ask the operator whether both are in the price before you pay. If you sail your own small boat, the 2026 Kornati price list charges 45 EUR a day in season for a boat up to 6.99 m bought outside the park, and twice that bought inside.
