Corfu / The verdict
Is a Paxos and Antipaxos day trip worth it?
It depends: operator sites list Paxos and Antipaxos day cruises from about EUR 50 per adult, and the few verified traveler reports praise the water but describe crowded beaches and a long day. It suits swimmers with one free day, less so anyone who wants quiet coves.

The Corfu story
Corfu is the Ionian counterweight to the Aegean cliche: greener, wetter and more Venetian than any Cycladic island, with a UNESCO-listed old town of French arcades and Italian facades that feels closer to a southern-Italian port than to Mykonos. The north-east stacks cypress-framed bays and white-villa country, the west has the big sandy beaches, and the interior is olive-grove Greece at its most intact.

- You are based in south Corfu; the Lefkimmi cruise runs about 7 hours (09:30 to 17:00) against about 10 hours from Corfu Town

- You want the coves to yourself; reports describe Voutoumi busy with tour boats through the day and the water taxis and beaches filling up later
- You can spare a night or two; the warmest reports come from visitors who stayed on Paxos rather than doing it in a day
- You are visiting outside the warm season; the operator calendars list sailings from May to October
What it costs
- Paxos, Antipaxos and Blue Caves cruise from Corfu main port (Corfu Cruises): €57 (EUR 65 with hotel coach transfer; child EUR 29/37; 08:25 departure, about 10 hours; the operator page still lists the May to October 2025 sailing calendar). Official source, checked Oct 2026.

- Hydrofoil Corfu New Port to Gaios, one way (Paxos Lines): €20 (Site lists a sample adult fare from EUR 20 one way and a crossing from about 55 minutes; it says official prices will be published shortly). Official source, checked Oct 2026.
What travelers report
Based on 6 traveler reports (Oct 2024 to Sep 2026) and the official sources linked on this page. 0 were negative.
What people like
- The Antipaxos beaches: reports praise the clear turquoise water at Voutoumi and Vrika (2 reports)
- Paxos itself, especially Gaios and Lakka, as a pleasant place to linger (3 reports)
- A day cruise from Lefkimmi that worked as an enjoyable day out (1 report)
What people complain about
- Crowds at Voutoumi, on the water taxis and in Gaios when the big day boats unload (3 reports)
- Wind and spray on the ride back from the swim stop (1 report)
- A hot hydrofoil with no working air conditioning and a late ferry cancellation with poor communication (1 report)
How to do it right
- Match the departure port to your base: operator pages list about 10 hours from Corfu Town (08:25 or 08:30 start) and about 7 hours from Lefkimmi (09:30 to 17:00).
- Expect the standard loop on the operator pages: a Blue Caves pass off Paxos, a swim stop at Voutoumi on Antipaxos, then free time in Gaios.
- If you go on your own, take the first Gaios water taxi to Antipaxos; one report advises early because the boats and beaches fill up later, and carry cash for the boat.
- Ferries are the other route: Kamelia Lines runs Lefkimmi to Gaios from EUR 15 one way and Paxos Lines lists a hydrofoil from Corfu from about EUR 20; one report says summer ferries can sell out, so book ahead.
- Pack strong sunscreen and cover your shoulders; one report got badly burned over a day on the beaches.
The trap to avoid
Booking whichever boat your accommodation offers without checking the departure port. Operator pages list the same outing at about 7 hours from Lefkimmi (09:30 to 17:00) and about 10 hours from Corfu Town (08:25 or 08:30 start), so check the port and times before you pay.
What to do instead
Why this verdict
The day trip suits some visitors and not others, and the verified reports are too few to call it a clear yes. Six first-hand reports remain in the log after checking every source, and none is negative. The praise centers on the water and the islands. A 2024 writer who took the boat and a Gaios water taxi found the Antipaxos beaches lovely and would do the trip again, and a 2026 sailor calls Voutoumi one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece.
The complaints are about crowds and the shape of the day. The same sailor says tourist boats fill the bay between 09:00 and 18:00 and that it empties at night. A September 2026 day-cruise report enjoyed the outing but logged two big ships unloading into Gaios at lunch and wind and spray on the ride back. The 2024 writer advises taking the water taxi as early as possible because the boats and beaches fill up later.
The warmest reports come from people who stayed on Paxos. Three of the six describe a stay of several days rather than a single day, and all three write well of the island. That is why this page says it depends. Operator pages list day cruises from about EUR 50 per adult with a couple of hours free in Gaios, which is fair for a swim and a lunch stop. If you want the beaches with fewer people, the ferry plus a night on Paxos is the version the reports speak well of.
Timing and tickets
Operator calendars list sailings from May to October. Corfu Cruises departs the main port at 08:25 for about 10 hours on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, though its page still shows the 2025 calendar, so confirm dates before booking. Sarris leaves Lefkimmi at 09:30 and returns at 17:00, and Finikas leaves Corfu New Port at 08:30 and returns about 18:30. Prices checked 2026-10-07 run EUR 50 to 57 per adult without a hotel transfer. One report advises carrying cash for the Gaios water taxi, and another says popular summer ferries can sell out, so book those ahead.
