Toulouse / The verdict

Toulouse airport to the city: which way?

The Navette Aeroport shuttle is the pick for most arrivals: 9 EUR buys a coach-style ride to one of four center stops in under 25 minutes, and the ticket carries onto the metro, tram and bus network for up to 3 more changes within 1h30. Choose the 1.80 EUR bus-plus-tram route if money outranks time, and a taxi or pre-booked car for groups, late flights or heavy luggage.

The Toulouse story

Toulouse is France's best city nobody weekends in. The whole centre is built of rose brick that goes pink at sunset, the Capitole square is a genuine grand cafe stage, and the student population keeps prices and hours friendly. Its second identity is aerospace: this is Airbus' home town, and the Cite de l'Espace plus Aeroscopia's Concorde hangar are the best aviation museums outside Washington.

The verdict in 30 seconds

Our pick: Navette Aeroport shuttle (runner-up: Taxi)

The Navette Aeroport shuttle is the pick for most arrivals: 9 EUR buys a coach-style ride to one of four center stops in under 25 minutes, and the ticket carries onto the metro, tram and bus network for up to 3 more changes within 1h30. Choose the 1.80 EUR bus-plus-tram route if money outranks time, and a taxi or pre-booked car for groups, late flights or heavy luggage.

Go if

  • You are landing at TLS and want a direct, no-fuss ride into the pink city.
  • You are staying near Compans-Caffarelli, Jeanne d'Arc, Jean Jaures or the Matabiau station area, all shuttle stops.
  • You have a rail connection at Matabiau and want one ticket to reach it.

Skip if

  • You land well outside the shuttle window: it runs roughly 5:40 to 00:10 from the airport and about 5:05 to 00:05 toward it, with no service on 1 May.
  • You are headed to a Blagnac or Beauzelle hotel near the tram T1 line, where the 1.80 EUR bus-plus-tram route is closer and cheaper.
  • You are three or four people sharing: the 37 EUR flat-fare taxi to the center can beat four 9 EUR shuttle tickets.

The options

Navette Aeroport shuttle Go

You want the simplest ride in: a direct 9 EUR shuttle to four center stops, with onward metro and tram legs on the same ticket.

Good

  • Under 25 minutes to Matabiau in light traffic, every 15 minutes, every day except 1 May.
  • The 9 EUR ticket covers up to 3 more changes on 4 lines within 1h30, so most stays need no second ticket.
  • Coach-style bus at door C2 with luggage racks, air conditioning and contactless payment.
  • Four stops map onto the network: Compans-Caffarelli (metro B), Jeanne d'Arc (B), Jean Jaures (A+B) and Matabiau (A plus trains).

Watch out

  • 9 EUR each adds up for a family of four, where the taxi flat fare is nearly the same price.
  • The ride can stretch to about 45 minutes in rush-hour traffic.
  • No service on 1 May, and nothing runs between about 00:10 and 5:40.

Bus 30 or 31 plus tram T1 It depends

You are traveling light, watching the budget, or staying near a T1 stop on the Blagnac or north side.

Good

  • 1.80 EUR end to end on a Tisseo single, the cheapest ride to the center by far.
  • Bus 30 reaches the Odyssud-Ritouret T1 stop in about 7 minutes and bus 31 the Pasteur-Mairie de Blagnac stop in 9 to 15.
  • T1 drops you onto the metro spine at Arenes without the Matabiau detour.

Watch out

  • Two vehicles and a change: allow about 45 minutes total to the center.
  • City buses have steps and shared luggage space, awkward with big bags.
  • One traveler found the connection fiddly enough to skip on a tight arrival schedule.

Taxi It depends

You land late, carry heavy bags, or split the fare across three or four seats.

Good

  • Flat-fare zones make the price known before you move: 37 EUR to the historic center, 15 to 47 EUR overall.
  • The rank sits outside arrivals and runs day and night, covering the shuttle's dead hours.
  • About 15 to 30 minutes door to door; a forum thread paid 36 EUR for four to the airport.

Watch out

  • At 37 EUR to the center it costs four times the shuttle for a solo traveler.
  • Outside the flat zones the meter runs about 1.74 EUR/km by day and more at night.
  • Card payment is widespread but not universal; confirm before setting off.

Private transfer It depends

You want the arrival settled before you land: a named driver in arrivals at a fixed price.

Good

  • Fixed quotes from about 35 EUR to the center, booked and paid ahead.
  • Flight tracking absorbs delays, and the driver meets you inside the terminal.
  • Door to door for late arrivals, families and anyone past the shuttle window.

Watch out

  • Priced near or above the taxi flat fare for a solo traveler.
  • Requires a booking made before departure.
  • No faster than a taxi once you are on the road.

What it costs

  • Navette Aeroport single ticket: €9 (includes up to 3 changes on 4 lines within 1h30 of first validation; a 6-trip airport ticket is 38.20 EUR; free passes are not accepted). Official source, checked Oct 2026.
  • Tisseo single ticket (bus 30 or 31, then tram T1 or metro): €1.80 (2.50 EUR bought on board; a 10-trip card is 15.40 EUR and a 1-day pass 6.90 EUR). Official source, checked Oct 2026.
  • Airport taxi flat fare, zone 3 (historic center): €37 (flat-fare zones run 15 to 47 EUR; outside them the meter starts at 2.40 EUR plus about 1.74 EUR/km by day, more at night). Official source, checked Oct 2026.

What travelers report

Based on 13 traveler reports (Feb 2025 to Jun 2026) and the official sources linked on this page. 1 was negative.

What people like

  • 4 of the logged reports call the shuttle quick and painless: 9 EUR, a ride of about 15 to 25 minutes in light traffic, and contactless payment on board.
  • 2 of the logged reports praise the shuttle as air conditioned and roomy enough for luggage, a relief in a June heatwave.
  • Travelers like the flat-fare taxi zones: one forum thread priced a 36 EUR cab for four to the airport, cheaper per head than the shuttle.
  • The bus-plus-tram budget route earns credit for costing 1.80 EUR end to end when time is not the constraint.

What people complain about

  • 3 of the logged reports flag stale advice that still routes arrivals to the suspended T2 tram stop.
  • The shuttle ride stretches to about 45 minutes in rush hour, which one walker called slow enough to skip on a light-traffic morning.
  • Pre-dawn departures are a real gap: a forum thread about a 6:30 flight found hotel shuttles and the first T1 tram all arrive too late.
  • One walker judged 9 EUR steep for what can be a roughly 10 minute hop and walked the hour on foot instead.

How to do it right

  • Take the shuttle from the rank outside door C2 at arrivals: buy the 9 EUR ticket at the machine or on board by contactless card, and ride to Compans-Caffarelli, Jeanne d'Arc, Jean Jaures or Matabiau.
  • Keep the shuttle ticket: it validates for up to 3 changes on 4 lines within 1h30, so a metro or tram onward leg is already paid.
  • On a tight budget, catch bus 30 or 31 outside arrivals toward a tram T1 stop (Odyssud-Ritouret or Pasteur-Mairie de Blagnac), then ride T1 or metro on a 1.80 EUR Tisseo ticket; allow about 45 minutes with the change.
  • For the taxi rank, walk out of arrivals: flat fares apply by zone, with the historic center in zone 3 at 37 EUR; agree on the zone fare before moving.
  • Do not follow guides to the tram T2 stop: the direct airport tram has been suspended since June 2023 for metro line C works and stays closed through the end of 2026.

The trap to avoid

Following a guide written before the T2 closure. Several blogs still sell a direct airport tram that has not run since June 2023; the rail option today is the shuttle plus the metro, or bus 30/31 to tram T1.

Why this verdict

Toulouse-Blagnac sits about 8 km northwest of the center, and since June 2023 there is no direct tram: line T2 is suspended until the end of 2026 while metro line C is built, and one itinerary site still sells it as a live option. That closure is exactly what the Navette Aeroport exists for, and the logged reports back it as the default: 9 EUR, every 15 minutes, under 25 minutes to Matabiau in light traffic, boarding at door C2 with contactless payment on board. The ticket also covers up to 3 changes on 4 lines within 1h30, so it usually takes you the whole way.

The report-backed cases against it are narrow but real. The ride can double in rush hour, nothing runs between about 00:10 and 5:40 or on 1 May, and a forum thread about a 6:30 departure found every early option arrived too late. Four travelers paying 9 EUR each approach the 37 EUR taxi flat fare to the center, which one thread exploited to the airport for 36 EUR total.

The budget play is bus 30 or 31 outside arrivals to a tram T1 stop, then onward on a 1.80 EUR Tisseo ticket: about 45 minutes with a change, worth it only when time is cheap or your stay sits on the T1 spine. Taxis rank outside arrivals at published zone fares (15 to 47 EUR), and a pre-booked transfer adds the certainty of a named driver for roughly the same money.

Timing and tickets

Buy the shuttle ticket at the machine by door C2 or on board by contactless card, and validate it: it doubles as your first transit ticket. The 9 EUR airport ticket does not accept free passes; departures run about 5:40 to 00:10 from the airport and about 5:05 to 00:05 toward it. For the bus route, a standard 1.80 EUR Tisseo single (2.50 EUR bought on board) covers bus 30 or 31 plus the T1 or metro leg.

Taxis quote flat fares by zone, so agree on the zone price before moving; the historic center is zone 3 at 37 EUR. If your flight lands after the last shuttle, the rank and pre-booked cars are the only options left standing.

Questions

Is there a tram from Toulouse airport to the city center?

Not for now. Tram T2 ran direct to the center until June 2023 and is suspended until the end of 2026 while metro line C is built. The Navette Aeroport shuttle is the direct replacement, and tram T1 still links to buses 30 and 31 on the west side.

How much is a taxi from Toulouse airport to the center?

The flat fare to the historic center (zone 3) is 37 EUR, and zone fares range 15 to 47 EUR. Metered rides reported by travelers land around 25 to 38 EUR depending on traffic and the exact address.

Does the airport shuttle ticket cover the metro?

Yes. The 9 EUR airport ticket allows up to 3 changes across 4 different lines within 1h30 of the first validation, so one metro or tram onward leg is included.

What runs late at night or very early?

The shuttle keeps roughly a 5:40 to 00:10 window from the airport and 5:05 to 00:05 toward it, with no service on 1 May. Outside those hours use the taxi rank (flat fares apply day and night) or a pre-booked transfer.

Is the shuttle or a taxi better for a family?

Do the math on seats: four adults pay 36 EUR on the shuttle versus the 37 EUR zone-3 taxi flat fare, and the taxi goes door to door. Solo travelers and couples come out ahead on the shuttle.
