Krakow / The verdict
Is the Krakow Card worth it?
Depends: the official My Kraków Tourist Card clears its 170 to 295 PLN price only when unlimited transport plus several of its free museums add up past it, and the lineup misses the sights most visitors ask about, including Schindler's Factory, Wawel, St Mary's Basilica and the Czartoryski Museum.

The Krakow story
Krakow is Central Europe's most complete medieval city: a main square bigger than most town centres, Wawel castle and cathedral on their hill, and Kazimierz's synagogues and bars just south of the old town. It survived the war nearly intact, and it shows: the scale feels imperial while the prices stay Polish, making it big-city sightseeing at some of Europe's lowest costs.

Go if
- You are in Kraków for two or three days and will visit three or more of the card's museums, such as Rynek Underground, the Town Hall Tower, the Eagle Pharmacy or the Kościuszko Mound
- You plan to ride trams and buses daily, including the airport bus or the bus to Wieliczka, which the card's zones I to III coverage includes
- You want the e-card version in the app, which avoids the 5 PLN plastic-card surcharge and activates on the date you pick at purchase
- You have priced your own shortlist against the package price before buying
Skip if
- Your sight list is Schindler's Factory, Wawel Castle, St Mary's Basilica or the Czartoryski Museum, none of which the card includes
- You mainly walk the compact Old Town and Kazimierz and would ride transport only a few times a day
- You are in town for one light sightseeing day, when a realistic Old Town itinerary lands well under the 170 PLN day package
- You already plan around the museums' free-entry days, which cover several included attractions for nothing on set weekdays

What travelers report
Based on 1 traveler reports (Mar 2025 to Mar 2025) and the official sources linked on this page. 0 were negative.
What people like
- Reports that find the card worthwhile describe packed two or three day visits mixing several included museums with constant tram and bus use.
- The transport component covers zones I to III, so the airport buses and the bus to Wieliczka come free with the card rather than needing separate tickets.
- The e-card version lives in a free app and needs no pickup point, which removes the card-collection chore that plagued earlier versions.
- Discounts at partner restaurants and services sit on top of the museum entries and transport.
What people complain about
- The most-requested sights are not partners: Schindler's Factory, Wawel Castle, St Mary's Basilica and the Czartoryski Museum all need separate paid tickets.
- A realistic one or two day plan lands under the 155 and 255 PLN package prices, so the card only pays on a dense three-day museum run.
- Several card attractions run free-entry days, which can make a cheap itinerary cheaper still without buying anything.
- Reports note pre-booking friction at popular sites regardless of holding a pass, and older guides still describe the discontinued KrakowCard lineup.
How to do it right
- List the specific attractions you will visit and add their official prices plus an MPK day ticket; the card wins only when your own list clears the package price.
- Buy the e-card in the My Kraków Tourist Card app to skip the 5 PLN plastic-card surcharge, then pick the start date at purchase since the package activates automatically.
- Remember each attraction admits you once per card, so plan one visit per site instead of repeat entries.
- Check the museums' free-entry days first, since several card attractions, including the Town Hall Tower, Old Synagogue and Eagle Pharmacy, open free on set weekdays.
- Use the transport benefit beyond the center: zones I to III include the airport buses and the bus to Wieliczka.
- Do not count on the card for the headline sights: Schindler's Factory, Wawel Castle, St Mary's Basilica and the Czartoryski Museum all sell separate tickets.
The trap to avoid
Buying the card for the famous names. The card's list covers Kraków's second museum tier, while Schindler's Factory, Wawel Castle, St Mary's Basilica and the Czartoryski Museum all stay outside it, and several included branches run free-entry days that can make a light itinerary cheaper without any card at all.
Why this verdict
The Krakow Card, now sold officially as the My Kraków Tourist Card, is a transport-and-attractions bundle that pays only when your own list clears its price. The packages run from 170 PLN for 24 hours to 295 PLN for 72 hours, each bundling one-time entry to roughly 60 partner attractions with unlimited MPK buses and trams in zones I to III, which even covers the airport buses and the Wieliczka run. Reports that call it worthwhile describe dense two or three day museum plans; reports that call it a poor buy describe one museum a day plus walking.
What the card does not cover drives the verdict more than what it does. Schindler’s Factory, Wawel Castle, St Mary’s Basilica and the Czartoryski Museum, the sights most visitors actually plan around, all sell separate tickets. Meanwhile several included Muzeum Krakowa branches run free-entry days, which further shrinks the card’s edge. A realistic one-day Old Town plan of the Underground, the Sukiennice gallery and the Town Hall Tower plus a transit ticket lands near 127 PLN, under the 170 PLN day package.
The math only flips on a dense three-day stay. Stack the Underground, the MNK branches, Krzysztofory Palace, the Eagle Pharmacy, the Old Synagogue, the Barbican, the City Walls and the Kościuszko Mound over 72 hours plus the transit ticket and separate purchases run past 300 PLN against the 295 PLN card. For everyone else, single tickets plus a 20 to 55 PLN transit pass is the cheaper answer.
Timing and tickets
Buy the e-card in the app to skip the 5 PLN plastic surcharge, and pick your start date carefully since the package activates automatically on it. Each attraction admits you once per card. Check the museums’ free-entry days before buying; if your plan already leans on them, the card duplicates what the calendar gives away.

Questions
How much does the Krakow Card cost?
The current official product, the My Kraków Tourist Card, lists packages from 170 PLN for 24 hours, 255 PLN for 48 hours and 295 PLN for 72 hours. The e-card in the app is free to use; a plastic card adds a 5 PLN surcharge on top of the package price.
Is Schindler's Factory or Wawel included?
No. The card covers roughly 60 partner museums and attractions such as Rynek Underground, the Town Hall Tower, the Barbican, Eagle Pharmacy, Old Synagogue and Kościuszko Mound, but Schindler's Factory, Wawel Castle, St Mary's Basilica and the Czartoryski Museum are not partners and sell separate tickets.
Does the card cover transport to the airport or the salt mine?
Yes. The official terms give unlimited rides on MPK buses and trams in zones I, II and III, which covers the airport bus lines at Balice and the bus to Wieliczka. It does not cover the airport train, which a separate rail operator runs.
Is the card worth it for a one or two day visit?
Rarely. A realistic one-day Old Town museum plan plus a 24-hour transit ticket lands around 125 to 145 PLN against the 170 PLN day package, and a typical two-day museum-and-transit plan sits just under the 255 PLN price. The card tends to clear its cost on a dense three-day museum plan.
Can I visit the same attraction twice on the card?
No. The card's terms allow a single entry per listed attraction, and the package activates automatically on the date and time you choose at purchase, so pick the start of your densest sightseeing stretch.
What happened to the old KrakowCard?
The previous commercial KrakowCard sold through resellers was discontinued; the product on sale now is the city's own My Kraków Tourist Card, run by the Kraków Tourism Organization since March 2026. Older guides and listings may still describe the retired card.
