Is a Benagil Cave day trip from Faro worth it?: It depends on what you expect. The cave is still striking, and a licensed boat or guided kayak does enter for a few minutes. But since August 2024 no tour may land you on the interior sand, swimming in is banned, and from Faro it is roughly 60 km each way, so this is a planned day trip, not an easy hop.
Is a food tour in Faro worth it?: Depends on how you like to eat. The guided evening tours in Faro's old town rate among the best-reviewed experiences in the city, packing about ten tastings and four taverns into three hours. But Faro is compact, affordable and easy to eat well in alone, so the tour earns its price only if you want the context and company, not just the food.
